Hello!
I learned about this event from my sister Kat White who is performing music at the Red Poppy this upcoming show. I am a comedian and would love an opportunity to perform at one of these events. I can host something, or do a set anywhere from 5-40 minutes. Also I know a lot of great comics that would also be interested in performing if there would be opportunity to set up a full show. 40 to 90 minute show. If there is any opportunity to do anything this time I'd love to. If you are fully booked I'd be happy to come check it out and talk about doing it another time. Here is a video of me doing comedy:

Hello - I'm a former ( and hopefully soon to be again...) resident of the Mission. I've been so inspired by the MAPP that I'm hoping to enroll my business and other local businesses, organizaiotns and residents to start a MAPP -like event in columbus, Ohio.
The more I read , the more I feel like it is an extension of what you are doing there... I'm hoping that I can continue to use your information, wording and example as an inspiration and guidline. Ultimatly, I'm hosting MAPP in Columbus!?
Not asking for any more of your already increadibly booked up time... just hoping that if I do something based on your work, i won't be offending...

Hi, I have attended mapp before and feel so blessed to live in San Francisco, a city where these kinds of grass-roots, recklessly colorful cultural events exist.
I would love to get involved as a performing artist in the future. I am a classically trained singer, pianist and songwriter. The instrumentation of my band is keyboard, 3-part vocal harmony, flute, ukelele & minimal drums. Our music tends to be classified as jazz influenced folk-rock. (I have my own keyboard that I could bring) We have performed around the bay area for the last 4 years, but have never before performed at Mapp.
I love performing in cozy, intimate settings where it feels as if the distinction between audience and performer is a frail veil and I believe that my music would be a positive contribution to this kind of mapp event.

Dogpatch Cafe & Art Gallery Grand Opening and Inaugural Art ExhibitOpening Reception: Saturday May 7th, 7 – 9 pm On Saturday May 7th, , Dogpatch Cafe & Art Gallery will present two bodies of work by Bay Area artist, Rodney Ewing. The first, “Port Chicago”, references a deadly munitions explosion that occurred on July 17, 1944 at the Port Chicago Naval Base (Richmond), California. The munitions detonated while being loaded onto a navy cargo ship, killing 320 sailors and civilians and injuring 390 others. Most of the dead and injured were enlisted African-American sailors. A month later, continued unsafe conditions forced hundreds of these black servicemen to refuse to resume loading munitions. Fifty men, called the Port Chicago 50, were tried and convicted of mutiny, and sentenced to long prison terms. Thurgood Marshall acted as their defense lawyer. Forty-seven of the 50 were released in January 1946; the remaining three served additional months in prison. They have all only recently been exonerated after over 60 years. The second set of drawings are part of series in progress called “Rituals of Water”. This project is an exploration of the allegory of water in the context of the African Diaspora. The work is segregated into four thematic sections: Transition (Middle Passage), Transformation (Baptism), Resistance (Civil Rights), and Dispersal (Hurricane Katrina). By categorizing the topic in this manner, Ewing has not only created a timeline, but has also produced a record of how an element can serve in mundane, transcendent and malevolent capacities. Hi. When is the next MAPP event? I have monday afternoon and evening classes and cannot attend Monday evening planning meetings. I am an experienced Brazilian singer looking TO perform my new concert in MAPP.
My new concert ‘Flore me forever` (working title) is a wonderful Brazilian musical event in which I will sing songs from my new album `Bossa A Trois`, which will be released in this concert, and some covers of Brazilian tunes. My band consists of guitar, cello, drums and keyboards. The theme of the concert is dedicated to the subtle spiritual power of flowers in our lives. As well, the concert offers space for questioning material values. What role does beauty hold in our lives? What is the value of money? Music will guide us through these inquiries.
I have performed in Brazil, Canada, and United Stated, including respected venues in the Bay Area, such as Red Poppy Art House, La Pena, and Rudramandir. My music has been broadcasted on radio stations as far away as Spain and Italy. My new album, which will be released in this concert, was recorded in France and was produced by Daniel Masson (from Buddha Bar lounge). My music is a mix of Brazilian Jazz and pop music. It is soft, dynamic and sensitive.

I like to cook as performance art. the kitchen space and what goes on there is fascinating to both those involved and those observing . I am not proposing a "pop up" restauarant (although I am open to that possibility as well), but rather a space where food is prepeared, cooked and manipulatd in various ways to be observed. there will of course be the by product of actual cooked edible products, but the art will be in the process of creating.

My name is Burt Baca and I currently head up the newest Lastin Jazz Ensemble JazzSabor which will be performing at the Nihonmachi Annual Street Fair which is being held on August 14th & 15th and San Francisco's Japantown. This is a free event for all ages. It features festivities and live music. Our group JazzSabor will performing at the Wbster street stage on Sunday the 15th at 5pm-6pm. Serendipity.... ridiculous coincidence? International Trans-cranial idea mash up ?
I am the public art coordinator for a group in vancouver (bc) and we focus on bringing attention to the planning, use, programming and accessibility of public space... my role is more about creative use and interaction with public spaces around town... and just this evening, I had a meeting to discuss the *EXACT* same project that MAPP is all about. I want to create partnerships b/w local arts groups and residents / owners of private spaces who are willing to allow artists use their spaces (front yard, garage, alley, etc) for site-specific work. Mapp has been what I look forward to more than any other event in the city and I would love to volunteer to help where help is needed. Is there a mailing list I could bea part of that informs everyone how to help with the up coming mapp?
Also, has there been any mention of when the next mapp may be? I know that it feels a bit far out but I'm hoping to fly my mom out to experience this community that I haven't shut up about.

is there any way you can post the programs for the MAPP events "before" the event, rather than after. the programs seem to never be available ahead of time, and posting them after is sort of pointless and doesn't really help anybody who wants to attend the various events. and the fliers at red poppy usually are all gone quickly so then we don't even know what's going on.

Hi, I'm an Artist living in the Mission.
I would like to create an installation work that exists in the street as well as in an enclosed space on the MAPP tour. I will "cast" the cracks in different parts of the Mission using sheets of aluminum foil. I will affix some of these castings to the cracks where I have made them in the streets. Others I will hang on a neutral wall, perhaps in a garage.

I am a professional Cartographer and would like to volunteer my services to create a map for your next event, or any in the future as needed. The first MAPP event I went to had a map of all the locations which I thought was very helpful to hit as many spots as possible. I attended the last event in December and was disappointed there wasn't a map in the program handout - just a listing of addresses makes it much more difficult for people to find their way from location to location. I love MAPP events and would be honored to be a part of it. I can supply you with samples of my cartographic work or references if you like. Let me know if I can help.

Hello SFMAPP,
In an upcoming issue of Novo Magazine, we would like to feature SFMAPP to give the public an idea of what the San Francisco Mission Arts and Performance Project is about.
Novo Magazine is a San Francisco based magazine planning to be launched in February 2009, which features the lifestyle of San Franciscans through dining, fashion, art, nightlife, and entertainment.
We plan to release 20,000 copies of our first issue, and 20,000 copies of every issue after that.
In our first issue, we would like to feature SFMAPP. In order to do so, we would need multiple HIGH RESOLUTION pictures (300 dpi or better) from the organization.
I'm sending this email in hopes that you can provide me with a couple of high resolution pictures. If not you, maybe you can direct us on who to contact (with a phone number or email) to get some high resolution pictures that best represents SFMAPP so we can feature you guys in one of our issues!

I have a studio space at 1890 bryant. Is it possible to bring artwork out of the building to the street instead of having people come into the buildings? Most of my artwork is Latinio themed (I do have images of Frida). Having a studio in the mission does not necessarily make it accessible to the community. Should artists be out in the community instead of the community being expected to come to us?
